Spring Break 2019

We had a really fun family day at the zoo.

We really enjoyed learning about this electric eel!

Boys and Girls Outings
The boys went to see a movie, if I recall properly.

The girls went to Outback and the mall. Katherine made her first ever Build a Bear!

National Junior Honor Society

Christian didn't apply for NJHS last year and I told him that I thought he should have and advised that he needs to next time at the high school. Well, I didn't know that would have the opportunity again in 8th grade, but he did! I think my sweet boy filled out the application just to please me! He gets good grades and is a good kid, so he deserved it too. Well done, C-bass!

Nice Project, Grant!

It was last minute, but he got it done! He followed the rubric and got 100. Good job!

Paige's Cancer

Another hard one to write about.... It was within a couple days that I heard that she most likely had cancer, that I found out my dad did. We also found out that Paige's dad had prostate cancer. That was a lot to take in. Too much bad news all at once. I was very upset, but I prayed hard.  I remember feeling peace when I prayed a long and sincere prayer about these loved ones when I was driving to RIC to the hospital to visit my dad. I felt Peace in Christ- that he has felt every pain and heartache, that he was resurrected so that we all can be, and that no matter what happens, things will work out in the end. She has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I hate that we live far away and that I can't easily help. I definitely pray and am always here if she wants to talk, but I want to help carpool the kids, clean the house, stock freezer meals, and do whatever else is needed. I hate that she has to go through this, but I know that she will make it through! We definitely love her and will be rooting for her!

Conference Weekend

It wasn't the most prepared or reverent conference weekend, but I did throw together a makeshift conference store as the kids requested. We did a pretty good job watching at home and Danny and Christian went to the church to better pay attention to Priesthood.
I felt like it was a good thing because we tried, showed our kids that it is important, and felt the spirit at times throughout the conference.

Flu

Danny, Katherine, and Victoria has the flu for a week. It was not the most exciting start to April with people feeling crummy, coughs, aches, runny noses, and breathing treatments.

Hobbit House

The students in Christian's art class were given clay and could build any kind of house that they wanted to build. Christian's hobbit house was really cool. I was so glad that he brought home more art! Twice in a week- I could get used to that. Katherine and Grant saw it when they came in and were very impressed as well. They wanted to play with it.

Christian's Escher Inspired Spaceship

I told Christian the other day that I hadn't seen much of his artwork lately and that I miss it.  The next day he brought me a new drawing. Thanks, for caring and sharing Christian! I love the work you do!

Camila and Victoria Played Each Other!

MountainView and CCHS played lacrosse on Monday. V was on Defense and Camila was on Attack only 4 players away from each other on the field. (V- navy with pink stick and C- white with orange shoes)
It was a fun game to start MountainView had a better first half and Camila scored!
Blue Devils dominated the second half and won! 9-6.

Papa came from Williamsburg and Megan, Bobby, Kattia, Danny, Grant, and Katherine came to watch too. We all cheered for both girls. Because it was an away game, Danny and Grant took the role of announcer and shouted, "Boom, boom, boom" at each Blue Devil's goal! I felt slightly embarrassed, but it seemed the other fans liked the spirited principal's BDP (Blue Devil Pride).

These girls were so happy to see each other!
Afterward we went to chick-fil-a for dinner (for those who hadn't already eaten) and ice cream. We had a good time together!

Opening Ceremonies and First Game

Play Ball!
The season kicked off on Saturday!
Grant moved up to Majors this year and is on Coach Grant's team. That will be an easy name to remember.  They are the Nationals! Grant has enjoyed practices so far! We were a little concerned with him moving up early. We don't want him to sit the bench. The coach has assured us that he sees potential in him and that is why he moved up. He can't promise that he will play all the time or anything, but thinks that if we are patient that we will see that he improves over the course of the season.

Lots of Culpeper kids playing little league!

Grant's team played a close game that afternoon. G-man didn't have much playing time and it was not his most impressive game, but he has plenty more games to prove himself and we know that he will! In an extra inning, Nationals won!

Yowell Fun Fair

Katherine was most excited to meet up with her friends Reid and Chloe at the cake walk. Grant was glad to see Beckett there too.
Katherine was so excited to see Mrs. Yard AND Mrs. Wensel at the consessions area selling pizza. It seemed like all of the staff members worked that night! Super nice of them all to stick around on a Friday night! They are great teachers!

Grant's favorite activity was playing volleyball. That was his teacher, Mrs. VanLeer's station, so he was glad to see her too!

We also saw Mrs. Wheeler, his teacher from last year. She told me that he wrote her a really nice appreciation letter. I didn't know that he had written it, but I do know that he really loved her.

I didn't get many pics, but these guys had a really fun time with friends at their school's fun fair!
