One of my friends, Tammy Johnson, calls this sort of thing, "Boy to Man". Before our friendship, I don't think I really had a name for it, but I love it when my kids are independent and self-reliant. It makes a mom glad on a Sunday morning when her 9 year old irons his own shirt without being asked. Way to be awesome, Grant.
