Dr. Daniel Soderholm

Danny graduated with his PhD!

Woohoo! We are so proud of him! Even though we think that graduations are often boring, we definitely wanted to celebrate this accomplishment! We are really proud of Danny and all of the work that he put into this goal. We are proud of the whole family because we all sacrificed a lot to help him achieve this goal of the past 4 years. The opportunity lost was not only monetary, but potentially a lot more leisure time with the family and a more equitable division of labor in terms of household work and parenting responsibilities. I know that his earning a phd could help us all in the future though and know that he will also support us in our own future goals.

We left school early and went to ODU. Danny took the kids and I on a tour. Christian was not there because he wanted to go to his 8th grade formal. Initially Danny thought that the graduation was on Saturday, but it turned out to be Friday night. C-bass had already purchased a ticket, so we let him decide. We were in no way disappointed or mad at Christian and knew that it was a special and fun night for him too!

This is the boardroom where he successfully defended his thesis.
Danny's parents met us before the graduation. They were so proud of him too! His brothers were too. In fact, when Danny defended his thesis, TJ brought him a congratulations cake! So thoughtful!

A group of his biggest fans waiting for the commencement to begin

We had a bit of time, so had some time to chat and to text Christian.
He sent us a pre-dance picture in his new suit! Check out the suave hair-style he rocked too! Such a handsome guy.

We were excited to see him walk in.
He took a cool professional photo in front of a college flag, but we didn't buy it.
It was awesome to hear his name and to see his professor, Dr. Owens, give him his doctoral hood and a hug.

Out of all of these people, that guy in the middle is our favorite!

Danny, would you like to link or summarize your dissertation here?
