Back to School 2025- 11th and 8th

Last Meet the Teacher at the Middle School!

Katherine is ready for 8th grade! She has all of the same teachers Grant had, except one!

Grant is a Junior! Time is flying! It is going to be a big year for him.  All of his classes are dual enrollment, including automotive classes that he will be taking at CTech. He is going to graduate with a lot of college credit, so that will be handy! DE classes also bump up his GPA. He is doing really well in that regard!

I am glad that G and Kate will have some good bonding time on the drive to school. No seminary this week, but when it starts I will drive Katherine to the church and then they will drive to school together.

Katherine requested a party after school, so I put out some apples and a Norm Rockwell School Days print that I got for Danny.

Apple balloons and apples with cream cheese heath dip for an after-school snack made the party!

They both had a good first day. I didn't see Grant for a while because he had football practice. (More about that soon!) Danny had a good day too. Christian starts back at George Mason in a couple of weeks.

Successful FSY and Boys Day in DC and Maryland

Grant and Levi enjoyed the rest of FSY!

Danny had the idea to invite his friend, Ben, to join him in picking the boys up at University of Maryland and to then go see his son, Jackson. Ben came and spent the night in Culpeper, then they took off for College Park bright and early. They picked up the boys from camp and had breakfast then went to DC to go to museums, lunch, and a Nats game! Good stuff!

I did it!

I was about a year and a half behind on the blog and it felt overwhelming to try to catch up, but Victoria challenged me. I decided that I could do it while I was resting and recovering from my hysterectomy and I did! The posts are backdated and may be missing key components of our lives, but I will pat myself on the back and say that done is better than perfect intentions.

July 2025

I felt better than expected after surgery and wanted to get out, so we went to the river! I was still able to rest, and I was glad to not miss out on all of the fun.
I wasn't able to get wet, but enjoyed being outside. Kate kayaked.

We went to Compass and had a fun time, except for when Liam won these and warned us not to put them on. Haha, we should have listened!

Also, this orb float that Craig and Lorel brought years ago was rediscovered!

Our next outing was to States for Grant! He played with the Culper Senior Little League team! Tuckahoe Little League hosted the tournament in Richmond.

It started with opening ceremonies and pin trading.

We did some fun outings with the team and families, like this meal at Dave and Busters.

Katherine stayed at the river with my mom and Marshalls. Grant played on the 4th of July. They won!

We went to see fireworks at Dogwood Dell in Richmond. I love the fireworks, people, and music there.

Christian joined the crew at the river.

Katherine and Grandma

Next games went well too!

We took a little self-guided tour at UR.

Nice job, Grandma and Katherine and Eve

Team pic

V and JT were able to see a game since we were so close to their house.

V came again before work

She and I also squeezed some shopping in. This was an interesting look. Haha! And a yummy dinner at their house. Thank you for the Greek bowl!

Grant played well and pitched well. His team made it the furthest that they ever had at states- the semi-finals! Unfortunately, they lost to Warwick, who won the final and moved on to regionals in Florida. Grant has now officially aged out of Little League, but he has gotten so much out of it over the years! We e are thankful for the friends, coaches, experiences and development that have come from his participation.

Danny and Katherine headed to church youth camps early on Monday morning. They camped right on the beach at Assateague State Park in Maryland.

I took Grant from Richmond early on Tuesday morning. Long day in the car for me- 11 hours to the beach, through the long tunnel, up the Eastern shore into Maryland and then to and through DC to get back home.

Mia is such an amazing girlfriend! She had the coolest set-up to celebrate Christian's birthday!

So cute, right?!

We went out to dinner together to celebrate the 20-year-old!

Danny sent some camp pics!

They had a lot of fun.

Victoria had fun meeting sweet baby Johannes.

and spending time with her bestie cousin, Camila.

Grant and Juliana took a long drive to the beach and visited the grandparents and Marshall cousins in Williamsburg on the way home.

7-11 Slurpee day collage!

Grant hit another over-the-fence homerun at a Legion game against the Greene Machine.

Victoria and Mia went to the beach with Sydney and Ella

Grant and friends had a fun pickleball double date.

Grant had the chance to guest play with Dawson's team, Prime, this weekend. He totally loved the tournament in Richmond. We really liked the team and coaches and were so thankful for all of these cool pictures of Grant playing baseball.

The rest of our family finally got to meet Johannes. We all loved him and thought he was so cute!

We loved playing with him and holding him. He is a really happy baby and  Camila is a wonderful mom!

Christian and Mia shared pictures from their date to pick subflowers.

Aren't they a stunning couple?

They are so thoughtful and generous. They brought flowers home for us.

They are so pretty and brighten our home.

Kate and I found a few more geocaches in town.

She also went to a fun basketball camp for middle schoolers.

Did you know that she has been practicing/conditioning with the high school team most days this summer? Hard work pays off and she is improving each day!

This is how we welcomed Matt and Janelle's family. We thought we were pretty funny, coach Brooke and kids.

Grant, Isaac, Danny, and Cam went golfing

We realized that a lot for the Marshall cousins have similar hair.

Grandma loves these boys

and girls!

They love each other too and were glad to be together.

Happy shoe pile.

"Child #1, what is your favorite breakfast food?"

I took these cool guys to FSY at UM! They loved it. More pics to come, perhaps?

I picked these 2 up at V's house in Richmond. They spent the night there after spending the night at the river with Grandma and V and Matt and Janelle and their cousins. Then we drove to VA Beach to meet up with the family again and enjoy a day in the sea and sand.

It was a great day!

These are a few pics that Grant sent the family group chat. Looks like they are enjoying it!
