Clean organized garage

I know that this is not really exciting and not really crazy, but I was pleased with myself for cleaning the garage this Saturday, so I am posting a couple pictures. I like the garage, by the way. We didn't have one at our last house, and I find it to be very handy. Oh, and one sad story from the day. There was a box with a jack stand in it on a high shelf. Not smart! I bumped into the shelf and it fell out of the box and hit me square in the head. Jack stands are very heavy! I can't believe it didn't crack my head open. I did ice my head for quite a while and needed tylenol for a couple days! Bad headache and sore bruise. I was lucky though- no concussion that I know of. My pupils looked normal at least. Still, not so fun. But... the garage is finally in order after 4 months! Yea!

Fish Island

Victoria's latest project...

A geography project, can't you tell? She learned about islands and did a written report and then needed to do some sort of project. She had the idea to make and decorate a cake similar to Christian's last b-day cake. I wasn't sure if that would be ok, but she asked her teachers and they said yes. So, that's what she did. It was an island cake and she called it fish island. She made the cake. I only put it in the oven and pulled it out when it was done. I spread the icing, but she did all of the rest of the decorating! She did a good job making the island with graham cracker crumbs and put the props- umbrella, sign, towels, and palm tree really cute. She put the fish on in a neat pattern too. She did a great job and her class thought it was really cool to be able to eat her project!

Art on display!!!!

This was cool. Last Sunday we were able to go to an art museum downtown(in Farmville). Local schools had some of their best work on display there. Victoria's class helped create a huge Egyptian scene that was there on display. They have a great art teacher! We were invited to a special party in honor of these great artists. It was really nice! Victoria felt very please with herself and with her classmates. She worked on the Egyptian man. Specifically she paper mache' ed his head and helped paint it. Here are a few pictures of her with the masterpiece. I was super impressed with the work that the 1st graders did. Her friend Analee was there too and also worked on him!

Oh, and I had to include this one of the kids picking dandelions on the way out! I thought it was just adorable! Such joy and excitement picking flowers!

T-ball practice tonight!

Christian was excited to go to his first t-ball practice on St. Patrick's day! He was excited to take his new bat and glove and to meet some new friends. He always tries to be funny in pictures, so here he is with his funny glove hat.

He had a fun time there! Danny took him. Danny is going to be one of the assistant coaches, so that will be really fun for Christian and Danny. They learned what the different positions are called, practiced running the bases, and practiced picking up balls against wooden mitts with straps. That will teach them to close on the ball with their other hand. Danny said that the coach did a really good job with the boys. We are so pleased. I wish I could have been there too. I'm so excited to see their first game! More pictures will follow!

No more nebbies!!!!!

When we came home Grant needed to continue treatments for a while. And also, to make things just a little more crazy and normal for us, V and Christian were getting sick too. Christian's fever actually started when he was at my parents house when Grant was in the hospital. Thank you again, Mom and Dad, for watching them for us! And just about every time they get sick in any form they cough and/or wheeze. I wasn't looking forward to doing all these nebbies(our beloved word for nebulizer). Fortunately, the constant nebbies for all three kids didn't last too long! I stayed sane and no longer feel sleep deprived. We just have to laugh sometimes. So, here are the kids making asthma look like fun!

Sick little baby

Poor baby Grant had a rough go with his asthma at the beginning of the month. On a Sunday night he got a fever and started needing his every 3 hour breathing treatments.Luckily, he already had a scheduled 18 mo. checkup on Tuesday. We took him then. He had an ear infection and so he got an antibiotic. He also got his oral steroid for his breathing since the Albuterol wasn't doing the job. By Friday he still had a fever and his breathing was getting worse instead of improving. He was starting to be lethargic, so I took him in. His 02 was 86! Bad. So, he had a couple breathing treatments in a row and no improvement. So we tried the oxygen treatments, but his O2 level kept dropping every time we took him off. He was getting pretty tired of masks on his face and was glad to get into the ambulance for a change of scenery. We rode to Chippenham ER in the ambulance so that he could be monitored and stay on the oxygen.

He had lung x-rays there- pneumonia. RSV test was positive too. So between that and his asthma his little lungs were just not happy!

He stayed on oxygen Friday- Saturday night, had stronger antibiotics and stronger steroids through his IV, and breathing treatments and respiratory therapy (basically pounding on his back with this suction cup rubbery device) every 2 hours.

It was strange because he hadn't seemed to be much worse than normal. It makes me wonder how many times his oxygen has been that low. I don't have a pulse ox at home, so I would have no way of knowing. Scary!

Grant did well. He was scared the first day wondering what the heck was going on, exhausted the next, and feeling much better by the 3rd. It was nice to be able to go home.

Here are a couple not so happy pictures. And then two when he was feeling a lot better and getting ready to come home.

Nice Earrings, V

So, Victoria came downstairs wearing a pair of my dangly earrings. How did she do it?

Take a close look.

Kids are so funny. I love them.

Would you like green eggs and ham?

Victoria had school on a Saturday a few weeks ago to make up for one of the snow days they had. Not only was it school on Saturday, but also dress like a Dr. Suess character day. Well, smart mother that I am, I did not remember. I was just focusing on getting her to school on a day that she is normally home. She asked where her Cindy Lou Who costume was when she woke up! Whoops!!!! We had talked about it about a week before and she wanted to be Cindy Lou! My bad. We were able to throw something together and it turned out to be a fun day anyway! Thank goodness for a red plate, paper, and a yellow t shirt! Thankfully, Victoria looked cute, forgave me, and had a good day!

Shadow's gonna getcha

Grant likes shadow play. Here's Danny's hand's shadow about to get Grant's shadows hand. He thinks it is hilarious!!!!

Our little potato thief!

On two separate occasions he has grabbed one out of the refrigerator(I usually bake a bunch at once and have some for dinner one night and the rest for a lunch later in the week). Two times is a lot because we don't have potatoes all the time and he can't open the fridge yet. He has just grabbed them when someone else opens the door. He has to be pretty quick and sneaky! He has unwrapped the foil and eaten them like apples! He loves them whole and cold. He is so funny.

Fun Fort

My kids and I like to build forts from time to time. This is one they slept in one night not too long ago when Danny was supposed to go on a camp out with the YM. I say supposed to, but that is another story. He wound up being lucky enough to sleep in the fort with V and C. They loved that!
