Two Mini Eagles now!

A few weeks ago we went to the school for Open house. The kids were able to meet their teachers, Mrs. Veneble for Victoria and Mrs. Hodges for Christian. It was a good open house and the kids were pretty excited about school. It's neat that Christian can go to kindergarten and be a Prince Edward Eagle like Victoria and Dad.

Since Christian is starting kindergarten I'll tell a little bit more about his day. He went in to meet his teacher and she was great from hello. Her classroom is clean and organized and colorful and happy. She is very warm and welcoming. Christian found his name on the class apple tree. He looked around the classroom and could ask questions. She asked him to sign an open house poster too, which was a neat way for her to get a feel for what he knows and how he can write so far. He was pretty pumped and ready to start!

Funny funny Christian

Christian is starting to read the Dick and Jane books that V used to read. In them we read about "Funny funny Sally." Well, we think Christian is pretty funny too. He can always make us laugh!

I love his dimples too!

Stuff the Bus

I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I am the VP for the PTA at the kid's school this year. I wanted to be an officer in the PTA, but I hadn't really planned on it until Grant was in school. I wanted to be the hospitality chair this year, but they needed officers and VP sounded more doable than Pres or Sec. So, here I am. It is a little more work than I had thought, but there are some highs too. The first event that I really enjoyed was "Stuff the Bus".

The planning was right up my alley- thanks to being Activities Chairperson for a couple years at church, things like this aren't quite as overwhelming as they once were. Jamie got the volunteers, I got the bus, and we both took turns talking to Walmart. Those were the main things. The rest were details like handouts of what we needed, labels for the bus, decorating the bus, a couple tabes and things like that. Caroline made flyers that we posted around town and sent to the students. The hardest part for me was- advertising for it on the local radio station- I was soooo anxious about that, but it turned out to be no big deal. The dj was super nice and the conversation seemed natural. My main concern was sounding like an idiot and making the school or PTA look bad.

Anyway- main point- it was a huge success!!! We collected over 1000 school supplies and 300 dollars! So many people stopped by to donate. People were very generous! It was great! We hope that all the students will have everything that they need to start a successful school year.

Here are a few pictures from the event.

The bus!

Grant thought it was fun to sit in the drivers seat!

V and C came and donated and sorted some supplies too!

Thanks for being so supportive, guys! It was a good day.

Amazement Square with the Malones

Some exciting news! Our good friends, the Malone family, moved back to Richmond!  Victoria was so excited to see Rachel! Kristin called and we got together in Lynchburg because she and the kids were staying there with her in-laws until their house was ready. We met at Amazement Square, a great children's museum there, and had a great time. Here are a few pics from our day together. We are excited to get together again soon! It is really great to see them again!

Horse camp for Victoria, Megan, and Camila

Megan, Camila, and Bobby spent a few days with us in Farmville so that the girls could all go to horse camp together. I didn't really take many pics at horse camp this time, but I got a few just playing after they got home in the afternoon. It was fun to have them and to experience camp together.

V got to ride Dixie again this week! She loves Dixie.

Camila looked so cute in her riding pants and boots. She and Megan are taking lessons in their town too.

Polka Dot Pool Party! (in V's bathing suits.) It is fun that the girls can all share clothes. I wonder if they will still do that as teenagers?
Christian and Megan had fun together doing puzzles too.

It was fun for the kids to have their cousins stay  here a couple nights. It was fun for Danny to hang out with Bobby at night too. Thanks for coming!
