October Odds and Ends

Danny called us out of bed bright and early to come see something. It was cold and early so we came out in all kinds of interesting outfits, especially Grant! Haha!
What did he want us to see? Uncle Bobby flying overhead! Bobby made a few passes across and we all waved! Then, we hurried back inside. Haha!

Danny brought home this pretty floral arrangement that one of his students put together!

Katherine enjoyed a music class at school and came home and showed us what she learned. She really liked composing music and said that she liked the sound of the piano and strings most. She thinks she might like to learn to play the piano. We will see!

Grandma and Grandpa couldn't get together because they needed to keep Grandpa away from germs during his treatments, but that didn't keep them from giving us treats to make at home.

Small Halloween Party

We decided against trick-or-treating in a crowd this year and instead opted for a small outdoor Halloween party with friends. We invited a few families, the Nobbs and the Fords, and a few additional teenagers. We didn't take a lot of pictures, but we had a lot of fun enjoying chili and hotdogs, bobbing for donuts, and playing games.

Not pictured was round two. The Genho family came over and we partied again! The teenagers had a lot of fun playing hide and seek outside in the dark.

Halloween Activity

The YW planned a fun outdoor Halloween activity.

Mummy wrapping,
Bobbing for donuts (that was my station).

Glow in the dark pumpkin ring toss

Candy in the bucket challenge and a costume contest.

It was a small group of around 20 kids, but I think they enjoyed it.

Storytime with V

Shenandoah with Christian

Christian and I had a fun outing to the National Park! I love spending time with him, just the two of us. He is so funny and fun to be with. It was super foggy and we couldn't see much at all. We never quite made it to where we were trying to go, but we drove carefully and stopped at a few of the overlooks.

Christian is joking because, we honestly have no idea what was below at the overlooks. We only saw fog.

Christian, help me! Haha!

We finally found some short trails to explore. We enjoyed hearing the crunch of the leaves, feeling the cool crisp air, and seeing cool plants and animals.

I really like the way this plant looks and feels. Soft!

Fall is beautiful.
My boy is beautiful too.
I am happy to be with him!

Hard workers

Danny and I love to have fun. Honestly, I really value fun. However, we want all of our kids to know how to work hard too.

I am really pleased with the boys when they help with extra chores like raking, leaf blowing, and  cleaning out all the gutters. And check out Katherine taking out the trash. Daily chores matter too. I am proud of these kids and know that they will be successful and capable adults.

Super Saturday!

Yowell Elementary hosted a creative drive through fall festival!
Katherine and I really enjoyed it.

The teachers and staff set up tents with handouts or activities. It was so nice to see so many familiar and loving faces. I typically like to volunteer and be in the school a lot and it is really weird that I haven't seen so many of these teachers for months.
Katherine saw Mrs. Franklin!

She saw Mrs. Wensel too! Mrs. Wensel teared up when she saw Katherine and said that she missed Kate's hugs. She asked for permission to give her a hug and I said yes. Not going to lie, I totally teared up too. These teachers are so special. Mrs. Wensel was the perfect kindergarten teacher for Kate and we just love and respect her so much. Can you imagine teaching Kindergarten, or elementary school in general, during a pandemic? They are working so hard and doing amazing things!

They got STEM projects to take home and make, got to get out of the car for a couple games, and did another game or two through the car window.

At the end, the kids were able to pick up prizes for participating in the fall fundraiser. Katherine thought these prizes were pretty cool! Thanks, Grandma!

Next, we went to Grant's games(double header). He hit a home run!!! It was so exciting to see!

Way to go!

That afternoon we went to a pumpkin carving party at the Parker's house. They do it every year and it is a really cool get together. Danny and Christian had to miss it because they were at the school getting ready for another night of the haunted trail.

Cool pumpkins, guys! I should have gotten a picture of Grant and Dawson together.

So much fun!
