Danny's birthday and Conference Weekend!

Danny turned 42 on Friday! He was spoiled rotten at school! He arrived to a balloon and sign at his parking spot, a decorated office, a cool sign up in the cafeteria, balloons, cards, treats, and a gift card. The kids told him happy birthday on the morning announcements too. And, even the day before the chorus sang to him outside and brought in a bunch of cheesecakes that he enjoyed and even brought one home to share! I hope I am not forgetting anything. They really went all out and he felt happy and loved. I got to see and hear about these things when I went to bring him lunch. He picked McDonald's. He is easy to please.

That evening his parents came to have dinner and dessert and to spend the night. Danny wanted to have a simple cookout and he wanted to grill.

Danny opened some exciting things from us- new work shirts, jeans, sunflower seeds, beef jerky, some candy, protein powder, powerade, and  protein bars.

His parents gave him more green glasses like his grandma used to have and that I found at a thrift store for him. His mom found a full set at an antique store and was very excited to gift it to him. He really likes them.

He opened cards from my parents and Mary too.

We played a few games- Catch Phrase and Apples to Apples.

We had cheesecake for dessert.

Grant had a big cheering section this morning!

He was glad that they could see him play. The last few seasons, games were canceled because of rain each time they tried to come watch him, so they were glad too.

After the first game, Susan, C, K, and I came home and watched conference. Bob stayed at the fields with Coach Danny and Grant to watch the next game. Grant played well again and had a lot of great plays at first. V joined us when she got home from taking her SAT. We hope she did well!

Group pic before they left.  Thanks for coming, Bob and Susan.
(See the cute bowtie sign? That was in the cafeteria for Danny's birthday!)

The rest of the weekend was pretty chill. We watched conference. Danny and I had a nice dinner date at Glory Day's- thanks front office staff! V had a date too with a friend named Ian.

Sunday was pretty laid back. We were supposed to have friends over, but Danny started to feel sick on Saturday night and had a really runny nose. Out an abundance of caution, we canceled the night before because we didn't know if he was going to get a fever or what. A student had covid this week. This is going to be tricky all winter whenever someone has a cough from allergies or a cold. Throw in strep, flu, fevers from ear infections, and asthma (which are all common in our family) and it is going to be a mess. Did anyone know that I am terrified of being a germ spreader or my family causing someone to get sick? Yeah, it is bad. It is going to be rough as the fall and winter progress.

The good news is , that he had a really chill day, rested and watched conference. By Monday morning he felt totally fine. No fever or any other symptoms that would warrant a test, just a really runny nose.

Here's to 42! Happy birthday! I love you!
