10th Anniversary

For our 10th wedding anniversary Danny and I went to DC for an overnight date. My parents were really cool to watch the kids and do Christmas crafts and treats with them.

We went up to the temple on the night of the 21st and saw the beautiful lights, nativity, Christmas trees, and creches on display in the Washington DC visitor's center.

Here we are reenacting a scene from our wedding day pictures.
Despite my just getting over a stomach virus and still feeling not that great, it was a good night.

The next day, our anniversary, we went to the temple and did a couple sessions of sealings. It was really awesome. We enjoyed reflecting back on the day that we were sealed(married) and the way we felt at that time. We joked about how when the sealer asked Danny to "take Sis. Soderholm by the hand" he took his mom instead of me and she had to tell him "Sweetie, I think he means that Sis. Soderholm.(me)" Not the best start to a marriage. Nevertheless, we have a great marriage and still want to be married to each other for time and all eternity. We are thankful to have that opportunity if we live worthily and were glad to help others to have the same opportunity to be able to be with their family members forever. It was really neat because we were able to be witnesses to a man who was being sealed to his parents. It was a really spiritual experience. We also were really impressed by a man who we met named Hyrum Smith Chumway, who was also serving in the temple that day. He was an 89 year old man who was blinded on D-day and who has a difficult time getting around. The workers told about him and told us that he comes and does work every week. We also learned that he swims 4 laps a day. He was a really neat man and was a great example.

We enjoyed our time together. It is a busy time of year to celebrate an anniversary, so we were especially thankful to have a chance to get away, just us.
